A Week in Paros, Greece

Returning to Paros, our final leg in Greece has been nothing short of magical. This island is by far one of our favourites; it’s large enough, with many beaches and hilltop towns to explore, yet compact enough to traverse at a leisurely island pace.

During our visit, we settled into a sweet little beach villa on Krios Beach, so close to the sea that you can hear the gentle waves kissing the shore from bed. The tranquillity of the morning waves has been our natural alarm clock, gently nudging us to start our day.

A brief five-minute drive takes us to the old main town, distinguished by its iconic white buildings festooned with climbing flowers and meandering cobblestone pathways that weave through various shops and restaurants. Each corner turned reveals another picturesque scene, perfect for capturing the essence of Greek island charm.

As the peak summer crowds are yet to arrive, we’re relishing a quieter side of Paros this time. And yet, the sun blazes, with at least 30-degree days, darkening my skin—a sure sign I’m at my happiest. The days are long and unhurried, giving us plenty of time to soak up the sun, explore hidden gems, and indulge in local delights.

Hands down, the best day was when we hired a boat for eight hours to explore the Aegean. The freedom to navigate the crystal-clear waters at our own pace was exhilarating. We discovered secluded coves and swam in vivid blue waters. The day was filled with moments of pure joy, as we felt the cool sea breeze on our faces and the warm sun on our backs.

The first time we visited Paros two years ago, I wrote this about our three-night stay:

“There are small and quiet villages plus coastal coves with azure-coloured waters to explore, separated by roads that are a breeze to drive on. It certainly has that ‘come back and stay for an entire week and be perfectly happy’ vibes, and we may do just that one day.”

It fills my heart with so much joy that we did just that. This extended stay has allowed us to immerse ourselves fully in the island’s rhythm. We’ve explored new corners, revisited favourite spots, and created new memories that will last a lifetime.
