Three Nights on the Athens Riviera, Greece

After a long flight from Australia, we arrived at Athens International Airport and headed straight to the stunning Athens Riviera. The coastal town of Vouliagmeni welcomed us with its laid-back charm and picturesque beauty, setting the tone for a blissful escape.

Jetlagged and somewhat discombobulated, our first stop was Zenn Beach Club. With vivid blue skies overhead and the sparkling Aegean Sea stretching out before us, it felt like a dream. The tranquillity of the nearly empty beach, the warm sun on our skin and refreshing drinks in hand made for an idyllic introduction to this coastal paradise. The beach's serene ambience was the perfect remedy for our jetlag, allowing us to relax and unwind.

Dining at BlueFish was a highlight of our stay. The restaurant's seaside location offered breathtaking views, with waves gently lapping at our feet as we enjoyed fresh seafood. Watching the sunset cast a golden glow over the water was a magical experience that captured the essence of the Riviera's charm.

A day trip to the city of Athens added a touch of adventure to our coastal retreat. Exploring the historic Acropolis, strolling through Monastiraki Square, and discovering the hidden gems of Abyssinia Square's vintage markets provided a fascinating glimpse into the city's rich history and vibrant culture. A leisurely lunch at a family-run taverna, featuring delicious grilled meats and classic Greek salad, added to the authentic Athenian experience.

One of the most memorable days was spent at Lake Vouliagmeni, where we reserved a cabana and lazed the hours away. The lake's unique charm, with its elegant ambiance and breathtaking views, provided the perfect backdrop for a day of relaxation and admiration of the stunning coastal scenery.

Choosing the Athens Riviera as our base was the best decision we could have made. While Athens itself is vibrant and bustling, with a rich tapestry of history and culture, the coast provided a serene escape where we could truly breathe and unwind. Our three-night stay left us with cherished memories and a longing to return to this enchanting coastal haven.
