Walter’s at Coles Bay: A Bayside Beauty

Behold, Walters at Coles Bay, the type of beach house that screams: wrangle the whole family in the car, toss in swimmers and towels, and arrive with a sigh of relief. Stepping inside, I immediately felt the warmth of a space designed for cherished memories, where laughter and lazy afternoons reign supreme.

Upstairs, it was the view that first took my breath away. The living area, bathed in sunlight, felt like the heart of the home. Soft throws, collected shells as decor, and a kitchen made for family feasts. The deck opened wide to reveal the bay, a picture-perfect scene, with the coastal breeze drifting through the glass doors.

Downstairs, that easy, laid-back vibe only deepened with concrete floors, oversized sofas, and scattered beanbags. Nothing too precious, just easy comfort for everyone.

This living space extended into the outdoors. One side opened to a wide patio and a lush lawn, with the beach just beyond the picket fence. On the other, a private courtyard with sun lounges beckoned, offering sunbathers a perfect spot to relax and soak up the rays long after a day at the beach.

The home’s coastal decor reflected the beauty of the bay. Each room whispered of the sea, with soft blues, whites, driftwood accents, and seashells adding to its undeniable coastal charm.

Perfectly positioned for adventure, Walter’s made exploring Coles Bay a breeze. We roamed Freycinet National Park and savoured local wines at Devil’s Corner, taking in sweeping peninsula views. A visit to Bicheno’s Lobster Shack was a highlight—perched on a cliffside deck, we indulged in oysters and lobster, watching boats bob gently in the cove below.

What stood out most was how sentimental this home felt. There’s a history in its bones, an undeniable sense that it has witnessed years of happy memories. As the wind picked up in the late afternoon, the sound of waves echoed through the rooms—a constant reminder that the beach was just steps away.

These days spent at Walter’s were the kind you hold on to—unrushed, unplanned—just blissful days by the bay.
