Book Feature: Nomad

Having been in lockdown for the past few months due to COVID-19, I have missed travelling to a nearby restaurant for dinner, let alone, travelling on an open road. So when I found out that this book, Nomad, had been published, and featured a spread of mine and Kieran’s latest adventure in America, I sincerely missed travelling all the more.

Back in October 2017, on day 109 of our 180-day American road trip, Kieran and I met up with author, Emma Reddington and photographer, Sian Richards, while parked in a leafy national park, just outside of Austin, Texas.

At the time, we were living in our renovated 1994 motorhome, which had kept us company throughout our travels over 13 states, and we spoke candidly about the personal reasons as to why we took off travelling, how we tackled the renovation of our home on wheels, and what life was like living on the road at the time.

Two and a half years later, I must say, reading now what I said back then, brings up so many emotions, particularly during these crazy, crazy times. I can’t help but think, ‘who was that girl that was so brave to roam so freely, anxiety be damned?’.

All I know is, I can’t wait to discover her once again…

Until then, thank you, Emma and Sian, for bringing back these happy memories, and for capturing our story so beautifully, as you have done with many others in this inspiring book.

From vanlifers to boondockers, liveaboards to tiny-house dwellers, grab yourself a copy, as it'll surely get you inspired for that next adventure, whenever that may be.
