Studio Highlights: April, 2024

In a role like mine, it’s all too easy to get caught up in the endless cycle of deadlines. However, every now and then, a truly remarkable property lands on my desk that reminds me just how much I love my job.

This month, that property was ‘High Tide’ at 3 Surf Road, Palm Beach. From the moment I was tasked with writing its description for Ray White Prestige, I was captivated. I knew instantly that it would charm readers just as it had charmed me.

After completing the description, I was thrilled to successfully pitch the property to feature in my What To See This Weekend column for Domain. Even more gratifying, it graced the cover of the magazine—a well-deserved spotlight for such a distinct and delightful home.

Another April highlight was contributing to the latest Market Snapshot for my client, Woodards. I wrote several lifestyle articles for their latest magazine and assisted their Directors with their ‘Director’s Cut’ columns, covering their insights regarding the past quarter.

~ On The Cover ~

The April 19 issue of Domain magazine featured the property 3 Surf Road, Palm Beach, on its cover. I had the pleasure of writing the copy description for this listing, commissioned by Ray White Prestige, before being successfully pitched to feature in my What To See This Weekend column.

Immersed in the serene melodies of nearby waves, ‘High Tide’ emerges as a uniquely sublime coastal haven. “The essence of indoor-outdoor living is captured on the ground level, where bright and airy interiors lead to an expansive deck,” notes the agent. “This sanctuary also features a fairy-lit pergola, an outdoor shower, and secret garden nooks, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of lush bushland and Pittwater sunsets.”

~ Recent Project ~

For the latest edition of the Market Snapshot online magazine for Woodards, one of the articles I wrote was titled ‘Melbourne’s Life Beyond the CBD, celebrating the vibrant neighbourhoods that lie beyond the city’s limits.

Serene suburban living defines the Eastern Suburbs. Predominantly home to established families and professionals, these neighbourhoods are known for leafy streets, prestigious schools, and substantial houses. Camberwell, a prime example, is home to expansive, often heritage-listed properties enveloped by magnificent gardens. Despite its peaceful ambience, it’s just a stone’s throw from downtown Melbourne.

~ Featured Properties ~

Here are some of my other favourite listings I featured in my What To See This Weekend and Coast & Country columns for Domain, highlighting standout properties throughout Sydney and regional NSW.

188 Short Street, Birchgrove

This exquisitely rebuilt 1890s terrace embodies the magical allure of Sydney Harbour, with its dazzling sights captured from its majestic rooftop. “The impeccable quality is a clear standout, with innovative use of space enhancing the natural light and flow within,” says the seller, Tom Gibson. “It’s a tough choice, which I’ve enjoyed more, wines on the rooftop watching the city glow or having a BBQ while the kids play in the yard.”

75 Hudson Parade, Clareville

Basking in the legacy of Peter Stutchbury’s architecture genius, ‘West Head House’ is a masterpiece Stutchbury once called home for 25 years. “The house has a wonderful ‘spirit’ which envelops you, making one unwind and relax,” shares the seller, Vincent Sweeney. “I have cherished the outdoor eating areas for their Pittwater views and visits of king parrots, and the free-flowing nature of the house that accommodates family visits beautifully.”

164 Stafford Street, Gerroa

Perched atop Gerroa Headland with unobstructed views of the shimmering Seven Mile Beach, this luxurious oceanside retreat defines coastal elegance. “The residence has two separate kitchens, two laundries, and two spacious living areas, each with full-width balconies,” the agent explains. “Additionally, the lavish outdoor space features one of the South Coast’s finest infinity pools.”

61-63 Cranstons Road, Middle Dural

Crafted by an A-team, this resort-style residence was designed by Andrew Donaldson, constructed by Mallinger Constructions, and landscaped by Rolling Stone Landscapes. “It’s the pinnacle of luxury living with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a championship-sized tennis court, and a heated pool,” notes the agent. “Spanning over 1000 square metres across five pavilions, on over two hectares, it offers space, style, and sophistication.”

~ Favourite Edit ~

For my Design Digest column with Domain, my favourite edit spotlighted luxury brands to consider in the heart of the home, the kitchen.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, a statement that holds true especially when it's graced with these luxurious additions.

SEEING GREEN Aquarzo is a robust and enduring quartzite, featuring striking veining and rich green hues. Offered in slabs by Artedomus, this premium material is ideal for kitchen countertops and splashbacks, exemplified in the Concrete Curtain home by FGR Architects.

TAKE A SEAT A product of the exciting collaboration between DOMO and Biasol Studio, the Tre Mezzo Counter Stool is a simple yet elegant addition to a kitchen island or home bar, featuring a powder-coated steel frame with a round, upholstered seat.

BRIGHT IDEA The Jin Pendant by Remodern offers a chic and sustainable lighting solution for the kitchen. Expertly made from recycled stone aggregate, it seamlessly shifts from cone to cylinder shape, available in white, black or red terrazzo with a brass fixing.

TIMELESS TAP Maintaining its modern appeal since its debut in the 1960s, VOLA's 590H mixer combines a spout with a single-handle mixer and ceramic disc technology. Various finishes complement modern kitchens, from a classic matt white to a vivid light green.

~ Copywriting Highlights ~

In April, I had the pleasure of crafting property descriptions for several clients. Among them was a charming blue beach shack listed by Ray White Prestige and a stunning glass-wrapped home with garden views in Bowral, listed by DiJones - Southern Highlands.

3 Surf Road, Palm Beach

The property’s outdoor features are a testament to the beloved Palm Beach lifestyle. A large deck captures breathtaking sunsets over Pittwater. An outdoor shower for rinsing off after a beach day, fairy lighting in a vine-covered pergola, exquisite gardens adorned with hydrangeas, and various nooks for relaxation, all set against a stunning bushland backdrop.

14/36 Toongoon Road, Burradoo

The home’s interior spaces radiate a warmth and subtle regal style, featuring a cosy lounge with a gas fireplace and garden views, a spacious kitchen with ample pantry space, and an inviting dining area that opens to a sunny entertaining deck. These areas foster an atmosphere of comfort and seamless indoor-outdoor living.

~ Location Spotlight ~

I covered some incredible places in my Living In column for Domain this April, but my favourite took my imagination to Tasmania, to the coastal haven of Coles Bay.

Despite its growing popularity, Coles Bay remains intimate, with only 515 permanent residents recorded in the 2021 Census. According to Paul Whytcross, Sales Consultant of Roberts Real Estate, its population ebbs and flows with the seasons.

“Year after year, visitors flock here to kayak through crystal waters, hike amidst ancient landscapes, and taste the sea’s bounty straight from the source,” describes Whytcross. “Due to high demand, spontaneous accommodation bookings have become a thing of the past, compelling many to dream of owning a shack of their own.”
