A Taste of France: Lillet Luncheon

Last week, during a summery Friday afternoon, a little bit of France was in the air.

I attended an event held at the French-provincial themed cafe, Cafe Parterre, located in Sydney’s leafy suburb, Woollahra.

The glasshouse in which the event was held, typically is already charming, in and of itself, surrounded with urns, potted citrus and olive trees — though, the space was sprinkled with an extra dose of magic dust, thanks the event’s host, Lillet — a French aperitif brand, based from Podensac, a small village south of Bordeaux.

The purpose of the event was to get to know the brand more intimately, showcase how easy it is to make a Lillet spritz (recipe below), and of course, the chance to have a tipple of the samples in all of its delicious glory.

The verdict? Simple, refreshing, and perfect for summer. It also went down delightfully with the served Le Goûter (the French equivalent of a high tea), all served in antique French serving ware, no less.
