Seaside Splendour of Moon Bird Beach Shack, Beaumaris

Next stop on our round trip of Tasmania, we headed towards the east coast seeking its natural beauty, spectacular landscapes, and long beautiful beaches — a completely different Australian coastal experience to the one we know.

Providing the perfect home base, we checked in to Moon Bird Beach Shack; a modern and playful take on the classic Aussie beach house, located in the blink-and-you'll-miss-it town of Beaumaris.

This is where we've spent the last couple of days, unwinding in the living room with floor-to-ceiling windows, where I've spotted strikes of lightning from a passing storm, a rainbow after a spurt of rain, and the full moon rising come nightfall. Even waking early in the morning comes with front row seats to a sublime sunrise. Though this may all sound over-imaginative, I can assure you that it’s not.

What’s more, there's so much to discover within an hour's drive from the shack, but you really don't need to venture far to find your toes in the sand, after all, the pristine beach of Beaumaris is quite literally across the road.

Although autumn has just ticked over, it certainly feels like summer has been lingering, and so we aimed to take full advantage of Tasmania’s coastline.

We did so by taking our first swim in the Tasman Sea, at the stunning Bay of Fires, where we found pristine white sands and turquoise waters, ringed by orange-coloured granite boulders.

I’ve swum at my fair share of wonderful Australian beaches, but without exaggeration, our time at this natural wonder, skyrocketed to the top.

We also booked a session at the Floating Sauna Lake Derby, a floating sauna, and cold plunge experience, located in the little town of Derby, nestled on the edge of a mountain lake.

Once again, this experience resulted in a true highlight, one that gave me that familiar thrill of traveling, where you find yourself completely immersed in the beauty of nature.

Of course, all of this was possible due to our stay at Moon Bird Beach Shack, being that it’s perfectly positioned to beach/river hop your way around the region.

If I could repeat these last couple of days forever, I truly would.
