Blue Mountains: A Treehouse Retreat

Within the suburb of Blackheath, the highest point of the Blue Mountains, lives this dreamy little treehouse along Hat Hill Road. Nestled away behind the property of the main house, we parked our car and made our way through a well-kept and well-loved garden. There, tucked in amongst tall tree tops was the quaint tiny home – all ours for a short but very sweet stay.

The cabin itself is boasting with charm. Inside there’s a table for two with large windows you can open up to take in the views and welcome in the cool air. Along a wall there’s shelves stacked with books, playing cards, and treasured trinkets. A small but very functional kitchen is perfect for cooking up your own meals. The bathroom is attached to the side with a shower and full glass door overlooking the bushland. And the cosy bed is accessed by a ladder up to the loft, where you can fall asleep with the stars and wake up with the sun. 

But perhaps the most striking characteristic to note is the large deck outside framed around a tall gumtree. Here we served a picnic lunch where we ate and drank as we overlooked the breathtaking bushland of Grose Valley. For a short moment, a light rainfall came down, but it went swiftly which created a magical mist that surrounded us.

When the time came to pack and head home, I felt a sense of calmness that I truly owed to this stay. I knew then and there that I would return again… off the grid and amongst the wilderness.
